1. App, publisher and build status
This policy applies specifically to Netherglass, Android package com.zaezynthi.dreadglass, this studio website and optional player support. Zae’zynthi Studios LLC, doing business as Zae’zynthi Studios, is the legal publisher, operating from Fremont, Nebraska, United States of America. Contact details are in section 13.
Current playtest artifacts: the five-region APK 0.23.8-playtest / version code 65 and Google Play App Bundle 0.23.8-playtest / version code 66. The Play bundle includes Google’s In-App Updates SDK; the direct-install APK uses manual updates and has no update SDK. The historical full offline 0.22.0 APK and 0.21.5 Play bundle are separate older builds. These artifacts request vibration permission only and have no Internet permission, app account, studio cloud save, advertising, billing, analytics or crash-upload SDK. The SDK-enabled Play bundle still has the Play-mediated data handling described in section 3.
Separate playtest variant: the published five-region Campaign playtest ends at Encounter 25 and also contains no ads, rewarded-ad offers, purchases, ad tracking or advertising/consent SDK. Its local progress uses the same app identity. Hosting the bundle for download does not submit or release it through Google Play Console.
Future free-to-try editions: optional purchases and rewarded advertising are plans, described in section 4. They are not active just because this policy mentions them. The free-content limit and service details will be stated for the actual release. We will update this policy, in-app notices and applicable Google Play declarations before new processing begins.
2. Information on your device
The current app keeps the following in Android’s private app storage:
- Name or nickname: local personalization; a real name is not required.
- Progress and run records: active runs, checkpoints, upgrades, currencies, Prestige, Mastery, cosmetics, discoveries and rewards. Records may include duration, seals destroyed, bosses defeated, misses and collected gifts.
- Preferences: audio, haptics, Reduced Motion, text size, difficulty, theme and frame rate.
- Local diagnostic logs: limited rotating Godot logs that may contain device/rendering details, warnings and errors.
The current app does not transmit these names, saves, preferences, run records or logs to the studio or an SDK. On-device storage is different from off-device collection. Local backups for save recovery are not studio cloud saves.
Updates installed over a compatible build are designed to preserve local progress while the same Netherglass app and its data remain installed. Uninstalling, clearing app data, or using Reset Journey can erase progress. We do not have a remote copy to restore. The app disables Android’s standard cloud backup; device-maker transfer tools may operate separately under their own settings.
3. Information we may receive
Optional support and privacy requests
If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you provide, your message and attachments you choose to send. You may voluntarily include app/Android versions, phone model, screenshots, saves or logs. We use them to answer you, investigate the issue and handle your request. Review attachments and remove unrelated personal information before sending. We do not need passwords, payment-card details, authentication codes, identity documents or private keys for routine game support.
Google Play’s platform services
Google independently operates Play distribution, downloads, updates, store transactions and platform diagnostics. Depending on platform settings, Play Console may make crash/ANR reports, device/Android-version information and aggregated installation or performance reports available to the publisher. These are distinct from an analytics or crash-upload SDK installed by the app; they do not give us remote access to local saves or raw payment-card details.
Optional Google Play update checks
Included in the 0.23.8 Play bundle/code 66: Google’s Play In-App Updates library (App Update 2.1.0, Core Common 2.0.3, Play Services Basement 18.1.0 and Tasks 18.0.2). Direct-install APK/code 65 retains manual updates. Older SDK-free builds do not gain this feature remotely; the first integration release must be installed through Play. For eligible Play installations, an availability check occurs when the Main Menu is reached. Players may choose Update or Later, keep playing during a background download, and choose a menu restart after their progress is saved. Choosing Later postpones reminders; it does not undo an availability check that has already occurred.
Google’s In-App Updates Data safety disclosure lists device metadata, application version, and the app’s installed modules and asset packs. Google uses these to determine whether an update is available and its expected size. Google states that this data is encrypted, is not transferred to third parties, and is deleted after a fixed retention period; that disclosure does not specify the period’s length. The Play Store runs its own processes under the Google Play Terms of Service and applicable Google privacy policy.
The studio’s integration does not attach player names, saves, settings, run history or game logs, and introduces no studio update server, advertising, billing, analytics or app account. Reminder versions and snooze times remain in private on-device storage. Data-safety declarations must reflect this SDK’s collection when the SDK-enabled build is distributed, even if a player declines the download. Normal gameplay remains available if Play cannot be reached.
This website
Visiting the website creates ordinary hosting requests, described in section 11. Sending an email or visiting a webpage is not the same as the offline game uploading its player profile.
4. Future purchases and optional rewarded ads
Prospective information: these services are not installed or active in the audited offline builds or the playtest. The intended model is free access to a clearly stated Campaign portion and an optional US$4.99 one-time full-game purchase, with localized Google Play pricing. The full game is intended to be ad-free. Ordinary gameplay unlock conditions still apply. No subscriptions, paid consumable currency or automatic combat interruptions are planned.
What an eligible free player could choose
Planned placements are a voluntary Campaign retry after defeat and a voluntary Memory bonus after final run rewards, each limited to one eligible use per run. Offers must explain the reward before the player chooses. Declining keeps ordinary free play, earned rewards and saved progress available. Equivalent optional benefits are planned for full-game owners without watching ads.
Purchases
The intended provider is Google Play Billing. Google handles checkout. Verification, acknowledgement, restoration and refund/revocation handling may involve product/transaction identifiers, purchase tokens, purchase status and minimal entitlement records. These would deliver and protect the license, not create an advertising profile. A restored license is not a restored local save. Verified ownership is intended to support offline combat.
A verification service and its hosting provider, records, retention and deletion procedures have not been finalized or deployed. Those details must be disclosed before use. We will not request payment-card information through studio email or unofficial checkout.
The Terms of Service and Refund Policy explain purchase rights, the 48-hour voluntary refund limit and its legal/store exceptions. If you request purchase support by email, we may receive your order number, product, purchase time and explanation to review the request, prevent duplicate reimbursement and meet legal obligations. Send those only through private support; do not send passwords, purchase tokens or card details. This does not activate an in-app billing SDK.
Advertising, consent and possible data processing
Integration candidates are Google Mobile Ads Next-Gen SDK (AdMob) and Google User Messaging Platform (UMP). The current app contains neither. We do not plan personalized ads, ad mediation, Firebase Analytics or studio tracking across other apps. Behavioral ad tracking is not needed merely to offer a one-time purchase.
Non-personalized ads can still involve personal information and consent requirements. Depending on final SDK/settings, Google may process IP-derived approximate location, device or other identifiers, ad/app interactions, diagnostic/performance data and consent signals for delivery, measurement, security and fraud prevention. An SDK may transmit during initialization, consent checks or preloading, before an ad is watched. Choosing a rewarded ad does not by itself constitute every consent required by law.
Before activation, we will document actual SDK versions, recipients, collected/shared data types, purposes, retention and relevant choices. The intended design establishes ownership, age eligibility and applicable privacy choices before requesting ads; known full-game owners will receive no ad requests or ad-consent prompts. Purchase verification/restoration may still use a connection. Consent services may contact Google to determine applicable requirements.
Proposed initial ad eligibility is a local 16-or-older age band, subject to regional requirements; younger or unknown players would keep ordinary free play without ad offers. No full birth date is planned. No age information is currently collected by the app. Any eligibility signal sent to a provider must appear in the final inventory. Nicknames, saves, support messages and detailed run histories are not intended for ad targeting or reward-verification custom fields.
Where required, consent and advertising/privacy controls will be available in Settings, including withdrawal or applicable opt-outs. Refusal must not be misrepresented as permission. Ad unavailability, privacy choices or a failed connection must not remove already earned normal rewards. Implementation and store disclosures must match these commitments before distribution.
5. Purposes and legal grounds
Local data runs the game, remembers progress/preferences and supports local troubleshooting. Voluntary support information helps us respond, fix problems and handle privacy requests. Platform diagnostics help assess reliability.
Where a legal basis is required for information we receive, it depends on the activity: providing requested support or services; legitimate interests in operating support and protecting the service, subject to applicable rights; meeting legal obligations; and consent where required. This does not turn local storage into an upload or authorize a future SDK.
Future license data would provide and protect access. Future ad/consent data would deliver an optional ad, honor choices and prevent duplicate/fraudulent rewards. Additional legal grounds and regional requirements must be assessed for those actual services before launch. We do not use support correspondence for ad profiling or add it to marketing without separate permission.
7. Permissions and security
The audited app requests vibration permission for optional haptics. It does not request Internet, advertising-ID, contacts, GPS/location, camera, microphone or shared media/storage access. The Play update SDK communicates through Google Play’s own processes; no Internet permission does not mean there is no SDK data collection. Google states that update data is encrypted. A future billing/advertising build needs a new manifest and dependency audit. Absence of advertising-ID or GPS permission alone would not mean an ad SDK processes no identifiers or approximate location.
Private data uses Android’s app sandbox. This website uses HTTPS. Reasonable safeguards and data minimization apply to information we receive, but no system can promise perfect security. We assess technical and organizational measures without publishing passwords, signing keys, customer records or details that would compromise security. Any incident notifications required by applicable law will be provided.
8. Retention and deletion
- Local progress: stays until overwritten, reset or removed. Settings → Reset Journey, with both confirmations, clears the profile, upgrades, unlocks and saved Campaign/Boss Rush runs. It does not promise deletion of every diagnostic log.
- All private app storage: Android Settings → Apps → Netherglass → Storage → Clear storage/data removes storage, including logs. Uninstalling normally removes it too. Device menus may differ. These actions erase progress.
- Support: kept as reasonably needed to resolve the issue, provide necessary follow-up, handle a request/dispute and satisfy legal obligations. Length depends on those purposes; ask for review/deletion below. Necessary legal records may be retained with restricted use; provider backup cycles can delay final erasure.
- Play update metadata: Google states that it is deleted after a fixed retention period, without specifying its length in the SDK disclosure. Local update-reminder preferences remain until replaced or app storage is cleared. Reset Journey does not delete Google-held metadata.
- Platform/hosting records: Google, GitHub, Cloudflare and email providers apply their own policies. We cannot directly delete records held solely by them; requests may need to be made to those providers.
There is no studio app account or cloud-save record to delete. Retention periods or criteria, deletion procedures and legally necessary purchase records for a future backend must be specified before deployment. Reset Journey or uninstalling does not refund/cancel a purchase or delete provider-held ad/transaction records.
9. Your choices and privacy rights
Use a nickname, change settings, reset local progress, clear app storage or play offline. Support/attachments are voluntary. Google’s settings govern optional platform diagnostic sharing. No studio account, newsletter signup or advertising consent is needed for the current offline game or playtest.
Depending on your location and the information actually processed, rights can include access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, consent withdrawal, or opting out of regulated sale/sharing/targeted advertising. Not every right applies to every activity. Withdrawal does not invalidate prior lawful processing. You may contact the relevant privacy authority and, where applicable, appeal a decision using our support contact. Requests will be handled within applicable legal requirements and time limits.
We may request proportionate information to verify a request or an authorized representative. Do not send passwords, payment-card details or unnecessary identity documents. We can act on information we actually hold; local-only progress is controlled on your device. Future ad controls and required provider opt-outs must be explained when those services are introduced. Exercising a privacy right will not remove earned normal rewards.
10. Younger players
Netherglass is intended for ages 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. This is an intended audience, not an assigned store rating or a statement that every teenager can consent to advertising. The current app has no registration, age collection, ads or online app-data collection.
If a child sends personal information to support, a parent/guardian can contact us for review/removal. Future services must account for regional age/consent rules and teenage protections. The proposed 16+ ad threshold in section 4 does not replace those requirements or justify personalized advertising to minors.
11. Website privacy
This website has no studio analytics scripts, advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, contact forms, account login or studio-set cookies. Fonts, images, styles and optional native video/audio previews are hosted with the site. Media does not autoplay and is not a third-party embedded player.
Loading a page, image, poster or media file creates ordinary GitHub Pages requests. GitHub may process IP address, browser/user-agent, requested URL and request time to deliver, secure and troubleshoot the site. This is separate from the offline app. Optional downloads are hosted by GitHub as well.
Cloudflare provides authoritative DNS for zaezynthistudios.com. DNS lookups can involve the queried hostname, DNS resolver/network information and request timing. The records use DNS-only mode; GitHub Pages hosts the website and its files. This does not add Cloudflare advertising, analytics scripts or an SDK to the game.
Email links open your mail app; you choose whether to send. External policy/store/video links lead to services with their own privacy practices. Opening this policy from the app uses your browser, attaches no player profile and can expose ordinary browser connection information to the host. A future YouTube demo link will be subject to YouTube/Google’s practices when opened; the current site does not embed YouTube.
12. Policy updates and Data safety accuracy
We will update the effective date and keep website disclosures, in-app notices and applicable Google Play Data safety/Ads declarations aligned with builds actually distributed. A planned service is not an active one. An optional ad can still require a “collected” or “shared” disclosure.
Before material new processing, we will explain changes, identify providers/data use, supply any required prominent in-app notice and obtain consent where required before the relevant collection. Installing an update or accepting general terms is not a substitute for legally required consent. We will not claim guaranteed anonymity or zero data collection for an ad-enabled build without evidence.
13. Contact
